Technology
Instructor: McFadden

Welcome to a World of Technology

My name is Mrs. McFadden. I am the Instructional Technology Resource Teacher here at Mullen Elementary. As the ITRT, I work collaboratively with students and teachers to create a learning environment that is enriched with technology based activities.

Visits to the computer lab provide teachers the ability to present whole-group lessons and demonstrations and one-on-one instruction. In the computer lab, students are able to work independently and in small groups. The computer lab provides students the opportunity to learn new skills and developmental appropriate strategies that they can apply to their learning and real-life situations.

Our Journey with Technology
Here at Mullen Elementary School, it is our mission to integrate technology with the classroom curriculum. Our students in Headstart-5th grade are engaged in exciting activities in the computer lab that are geared toward daily instruction. Other activities in the lab include real-world application skills that will help students become independent learners. Real-world application skills that students perform are: word processing, desk-top publishing, keyboarding, internet research, spread-sheets, etc.
What's Happening in the Computer Lab

During the first semester, students will be engaged in projects that integrates technology in various subject areas of their grade level curriculum. In addition, students will be introduced to the following concepts:

  • the history of computers
  • the significance of computers
  • identify parts of a computer and it's function
  • technology key terms
  • compare and contrast how technology has changed over the years
  • typing skills (posture and homerow keys)
